Welcome to oday23.com. This site is dedicated to the restoration/construction of an original 1972 ODAY 23 Tall Rig. This boats first voyage started on April 15th 2003. Yes thats right. And so the story is told again.

The upper and lower hulls were purchased as factory blanks back in 1972 by a friend of my fathers'. The two hulls had been attached, and much of the teak work had been completed before we purchased it in 1999. It took two trips from Westerly RI to East Haddam CT to bring it home. The deal included the hull, factory blank boom and mast (uncut), custom cast shoal keel (unattached), and sails (still sealed in the factory bag), as well as a few odds and ends including some stainless hardware and extra pieces of teak.

Thats Me!
My Father!

For many years the hull sat outside, so we started by restoring all of the existing teak, and resealing all of the openings to make this boat water tight. Then we attached and faired the keel, almost losing my fingers in the process. Now came the fun part. Customizing all of the rigging, both standing and running to suit myself. She is setup for single handed sailing. We painted every square inch, and customized the interior..

Second Wind is now forsale. Please see the 'for sale' page for details.
